Kodak Gold Lightroom Preset
Even after our Antarctica trip, we’ve kept the Whatsapp chat going with the occasional shares of life things and travels.
It’s been really nice. Antarctica feels like a distant dream in so many ways. I still can’t believe we went down there and I truly do miss hanging with the crew!
Hopefully, we’ll have a reunion in Europe one day.
So, when Will, our production manger, shared some snaps he took on his film camera with Kodak Gold I was amped up!
The look of film and all its imperfections of not only exposure, but the hasty compositions as they were quick, impromptu shots is what really makes me love it.
It also reminds me of all the times I had to run to Walmart in my teen years to get filmed developed as I grew up shooting on Kodak Gold myself.
As soon as I saw these photos I had to try to make an emulation myself.
NOTE: We all know we can never fully replicate film, but I think for a fun, stylized look — this gets the job done. And if you shoot on vintage glass or add a touch of gaussian blur in Photoshop it can help sell the feeling even more.
I chose to go more teal with the blues, but you can see in the real Kodak Gold, my jack is more towards true blue/purple, so adjust to your liking.
I also kept the exposure, temp and tint neutral in my Lightroom preset so users can adjust based on the image, but know that slightly green tint and overall warmth is what I think looks best.
I’ve included screenshots of the adjustments below, but if you’d like to support me (my daughter thanks you), you can buy a 3 pack which includes this Kodak Gold emulation, a clean version (which I used to deliver this project and for many of my commercial projects), and a black a white version with heavy grain.
Hope you like and connect with me on Instagram (@atomicpixel.co) if you have some photos you used this preset on. Would love to see what you create! ◡̈
